DOLLAR STORE GLASSES

January 2, 2020

“And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)”  from “Heroes,”  Bowie

“I never touch you”  from  “Breaking Glass,”  Bowie

.

.

I wear dollar-store glasses
they help me work on perspective.
I live for nothing I can think of.  fact.
It’s suggested I might just strive for focus.
In my day bed i might live
with one window & uncertainly my curtain cracked

I can wear one seventy five
On dollar-store glasses
I passed par for an old guy.
I’m far from passed, muy alive.
Tho’ she could present a good argument
Contesting that mad “muy” adjective.
I abstain again & again
And I’d hate to publicly substantiate

SHIMMERING HEAD BARE

November 27, 2019

I’m for metaphors

That can pinpoint elusive love

A butterfly that lights

.

Right upon you like

Wild birds will dance onto a

Tame wire, randomish.

Odd that scarecrow’s hats shimmer,

Ensure anti-lure enough

MY FARAWAY STEADY(R)

October 25, 2019

It wouldn’t, understandably,

Be unwise,

Not imprudent, Though circumspect to

Look directly into the seeing eyes

Of an astute, & ably Miss

And ask her, the tallest florist,

“What’s the apt blossom symbolism

Best for telling my faraway steady(r)

‘You know already. This Pair  of us,
We know already. Our hearts,
They pound same messages, jungle drums.
We tend to our tender children, we calm
The fires near each of us, We brighten the burdens,
We ache the hours late late night.'”

“Those, that nosegay  near the ceiling”

Persistent Pests

September 12, 2019

I’ll try to mollify my nightside gnats.

I’ll placate  the buggers

I’ve waved them away

Short of swatting them dead sure  away

They’ve plagued me

Was that buzz   there in my ear

They’re watchers  They’re  warners

And judge me until I won’t budge, then I budge

They’ve plagued me. My problem.

I’m sick  by and of them.

I LONG to stay stabbing, & stay above

The sullen, crestfallen  long run of things.

.

ALONG our river, a song, not near, comes outa corridor

Firelight on a black and white picture. Above.

One  man  walks  on  red  leaves

In a black & white picture  of

The long run of things.

.

A  LONE  man,  leaves,  and dawn

Draping him.  Not much

Escape for him, in the long run of things.

My uneasy manner may wear
Against a midnight and on
Persistent are
Green bottle shards

again & again
Against a reef

a Lighthouse
over sees

yet overlooks

There’s a tree in this stretch of barren hell

It has Beauty  and surely shade

I’ll sit and see how far I’ve come

I’ll look off to  somewhere I’ll die

In the “quiet time” the hospital designates

When visitors gotta go

Ok so I opened a Modelo

& vacuumed the space between the davenport

& the coffee table where you like us to eat

& dared some dreams of arson

Oh I sat easy enough at one half of a love seat

I wouldn’t want  to reread Kant

On  Duty  and  Obligation

I’d doubt he’d sway me

His hard ass way

The escape  dreams prefer are fire escapes

Go get only things you can carry

Stand up straight  Cast straight shadows

One effin  flick of flint

Can  brighten  bad  roads

dutifully  sometimes you should shrug

& do yr lines

dutifully  from the p.o.v. of the third guy

in a lousy joke,

of the third guy,

on cue,  do your line

waiting there  at the gates of heaven.

.

the punch-drunk punchline chump.

in one ya heard at a barber shop or church,

though i frequent neither.

i heard they put out quite the ambiance there

with the reading materials, murals, & make-believe talk there
